Special Features and Programs

  • Killian staff and students take great pride in the appearance of our school. We have consistently been acknowledged by the District as one of the cleanest, most well maintained elementary schools in the Rowland Unified School District.
  • Sixth grade students spend a week at Outdoor Science School experiencing 4-5 days of intense, hands-on science investigations to make them environmentally aware.
  • Killian works closely with the American Chinese School, which runs an after-school program on the campus.
  • Student involvement opportunities include Student Council, peer coaching, chorus, cross-age tutoring, team sports, GATE, Jazz Band, Chess Club, and the Mad Science Club.
  • Cougar Den Club – an after school child care and activity program through the Adult Ed department.
  • First Day of School Celebration, Back to School Night, Open House, Cougar Day, various parent inservices, and Site Council give staff and parents opportunities to get to know each other.
  • Inclusion of special education classes in all school events and activities.
  • Summer School to support student success.
